Our gorgeous facility located in the beautiful North Georgia mountains will have safe spacious living apartments and suites with lots of windows and patios to enjoy our natural surroundings. The facility is being designed with easy access baths with no-step showers, lighted large open hallways with handrails and non-slip flooring. Dining at The Summit Lodge will be second to none, serving 3 meals per day in our bright cheery dining room and if needed meals can be brought to a suite or apartment. Coming soon in spring 2024.

On Thursday, August 26, 2021, The Village on Blackwell Creek was selected as the 2021 Real Estate Award Winner for The Best 55+ Community in the metro Atlanta area. The event was hosted by Modern Luxury Interiors, Atlanta, and held at the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center (ADAC) in Buckhead.
The award was accepted by Jenni Bonura the President & CEO of Harry Norman REALTORS and Doug Hosmer, Broker of the Harry Norman, REALTORS Big Canoe® office that is the listing brokerage for The Village on Blackwell Creek. Bruce and Burkett, the community’s developers, and Doug Hosmer said that it is truly an honor to receive this prestigious award and we look forward to continuing to make our nature-centric community the finest in North Georgia.

Burkett has been building in Big Canoe since 1993, specializing in mountain home construction using a unique recognizable brand in the Big Canoe Community.
Curtis Burkett was instrumental in the formation of the Preferred Builder Program by Big Canoe Developer Bill Byrne in 1993. Projects for the Big Canoe POA include the renovation of the Canoe Lodge (currently the POA offices) and the Sconti Club Veranda. He has specialized in custom home construction and land development business for over 24 years and has constructed over 300 homes in the state of Georgia and Texas. His projects include designing and constructing homes and serving as general contractor for several commercial projects, such as a new business offices, restaurants, retail strip center as well as residential and commercial land development.

Wayne Bruce has designed, remodeled and or built approximately 280 to 300 homes in Big Canoe over the past 22 years
Additionally he has completed several projects for the Big Canoe POA, including the Tennis Center renovation, new Front Gate House, Black Bear Pub renovation, Black Bear Pub Stone patio and Sconti Club Pavilion along with Burkett. He started his building career in San Antonio, Tex. with Centex Homes and attributes his success to God-given talent, passion and a love of creating and building. His designs have been featured in several national publications such as “Log Home Living” and “Timber Home Illustrated”.
